The Columbus Annual Christmas Parade is Wednesday evening, November 29. Santa has been contacted and he plans on being in the parade, which will begin at 7 p.m. Line up can begin around 6 p.m. on either side of Vermont or on Maple St. between Vermont and High School.

Chamber encourages downtown decorations

The retail committee is encouraging businesses to light up Columbus and let us be a “Hallmark Christmas town” during the Holiday season by decorating their windows and building. The public is invited to vote on their favorite decorations.

A special program on the history of the first schools in Baxter Springs was presented at the November 6 P.E.O. Chapter BT of Baxter Springs meeting. The group met at noon in the Fellowship Hall of the United Methodist Church. Hostesses were Linda Crotts and Alma Cook.

Columbus Lions Club has announced the October Lion of the Month. Columbus High School senior Chesney Dobkins is a member of LEO Club. She is a member of the Titan Spirit Squad made up of both cheerleaders and the dance team. Dobkins performed in the 2022 Shrine Bowl.
