At the annual 4-H achievement breakfast Ryleigh Holmes was recognized as the Junior 4-Her of the Year. Holmes is an active member of Spring Valley Sparklers, attends nearly every meeting and participates in all club activities.

Cherokee County Horse Project awards presented

Awards were presented to members of the Horse Project at their recent banquet. Montana Elmer was recognized for Reserve mini pony, Reserve gelding and Reserve timed event ages 14-18. Debbie French and Jenna Pritchett presented the awards.

Southeast HS seeks RSVPs for Veterans Day assembly

Southeast High School will host their annual Veterans Day Assembly Friday, November 10.
Veterans and their spouses are invited to breakfast at 9 a.m. in the SHS Cafeteria, followed by an assembly at 10 a.m. in the East Gymnasium, featuring music from the SHS and SMS band and choir.

Fall Fun Scarecrow Trail hosted by local youth group

The first Fall Fun Scarecrow Trail was held Friday, October 20 and was sponsored by the Camp Joy Church youth group “RISE”.
Lee Cossairt and Dennis and Jami Audo opened their property to host this event for the community. There were 28 church youth being the “cutest” Scarecrows on the trail.

A group of Southeast High School art students traveled to Wichita October 25. Melanie Evitts took a group of art students to the Wichita Art Museum.
Meg Powers née Gall, 2015 SHS graduate, is currently the museum’s Development Associate and was one of the docents for the students’ museum tour.

Are you ready for ‘Trunk or Treat’?

The Columbus Chamber of Commerce retail committee will be hosting the Halloween Walk on Tuesday evening, October 31.
The walk will be held on Pine St. on the square from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Children can come onto Pine from Kansas St. to visit the booths.
