Joseph sentenced in hit, run death

Following District Court hearings last week, the Cherokee County Attorney’s Office announced that John Joseph has been sentenced following his felony conviction for attempted interference with law enforcement in connection with the fatal accident that claimed the life of Gary LaTurner.

Football contest winners

With the final football contest coming up this week several of the regular winners have once again taken the prize money.
This year 216 boxes were sent to children around the world from Columbus and Oswego First Baptist Churches through the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Children. Today is the 100th birthday of West Mineral High School’s oldest alumnus. Saturday she celebrated with family and friends.Virginia (Robinson) Moore graduated with the Class of 1944, she was celebrating her birthday.

Alerting all cookie monsters. It’s time for the thirty fourth annual Cookie Walk sponsored by the First Christian Church in Columbus.Those who have a sweet tooth or do holiday entertaining will surely want to attend this event.

Draeger named November Lion of Month

The November Lion of the Month is Katelyn Draeger. Draeger has been active in several sports during her high school career, including one year of wrestling, three years of basketball, four years of softball, four years of volleyball and one year as Captain.

Pediatric services coming to Columbus

Beginning in February, a new service will be coming to Columbus Mercy. Pediatrician Dr. William Jones, from Pittsburg Mercy, will be available two days per month for pediatric outreach in the Columbus hospital. This looks to be a great asset to the community.
