A new bulk item collection pilot program aiming to provide residents with a convenient, option to dispose of large household items such as furniture, appliances (with Freon removed), and construction debris, has been announced by the City of Columbus.

USD493 Enrollment drops slightly in ‘26

Enrollment in the USD 493 dropped slightly compared to last year according to the report Superintendent Dan Grundy gave the board of education on Monday night.The total enrollment, not including pre-school, is 915 with a senior class of 71 and a kindergarten class of 62.

The one percent share of the Kansas Crossing Casino revenue for September 2025 was received by the Cherokee County Clerk last week. The amount sent to Cherokee in September 2025 is $30,500.75. This amount was scheduled to be deposited Friday.
