Local youth place first at state competition

The Cherokee County 4-H Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Intermediate Judging Team brought home top honors, earning first place at the State competition.

The Columbus USD 493 Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has joined with Bowler’s Blvd. in a fundraiser event.A percentage of the food sales on Wednesday September 24 will go to the PTO fund to support the Columbus Schools.The public is urged to attend and help the PTO in their fund raising efforts.

Woman receives probation in March stabbing incident

A Columbus woman avoided prison for her role in a stabbing incident earlier this year.Gracee Pritchett, 24, pled guilty to one count of aggravated endangering a child. As part of her plea, prosecutors dismissed a battery charge against Pritchett.

Wednesday afternoon Columbus Police responded to the corner of Maple Street and Kansas Avenue at approximately 3 p.m. where a large semi-truck driven by Raki’lo Martiz Whitaker was traveling south.
