Young entrepreneurs build business, literally

In today’s world “hard working, committed and willing to get their hands dirty” are words rarely used to describe college aged youngsters; however, those are the perfect words to describe local cosmeticians Hayden and Peyton Allen.
A ribbon cutting and presentation of the first dollar was held at the newest hair salon in Columbus. The Mane Look, was built from the ground up by Columbus High School Alums Hayden and Peyton Allen. They were presented their first dollar (at right) by Rebecca Spooner, Columbus Chamber of Commerce President.

Youth receive $82,950 in animal premiums

A week of showing, feeding, cleaning and caring for animals came to an end Saturday with the final event of the Cherokee County Fair.The annual 4-H, HYA and FFA Livestock Premium Auction netted just $82,950 in premiums paid despite the increase in number of animals sold.

In their first two pulls, both girls pulled 40’. It was a battle in the third heat with Kyra pulling out the win with 33’7” over Lyiah’s 29’9” distance.
