Cowtown Days to open Friday night

Cowtown Days returns to Baxter Springs this Friday night celebrating the history of the first Cowtown in Kansas and the early years of the community. Contests and a fun filled weekend are planned for all.

Local artists place at annual knife meet

The annual Kansas Custom Knife Makers Association meet found Columbus well represented in the forging competition, cutting competition and best knife competitions.Thanks to Phil Evans the local community has developed several knife makers and drawn hundreds to the area.

Storey to speak at Baccalaureate

Baccalaureate services for Columbus High School seniors will be held on Sunday, May 11 at 6 p.m. in the CJSHS Auditorium. Baccalaureate is an interdenominational service sponsored by the Columbusarea churches that honors the graduating class.

Cherokee County Jail Report

Stevana Kay Clark, 30, was arrested Sunday by Galena Police officers on charges of disorderly conduct; fighting words or noisy conduct and interference with law enforcement; obstruct or resist and is being held in lieu of $2,000 bail.

Crossland seeks bonds to build new center

More than $4.7-million in industrial development bonds are being sought by Crossland Construction to build and equip a new office building currently under construction near the company’s general offices in Columbus.
