Easter Egg hunts begin this Saturday (April 12) at noon in Weir at the corner of Forest and Washington Streets.At the same time in Galena they will hold their Easter Egg Hunt at noon at City Park.On Saturday April 19 in Columbus Chamber Easter Egg Hunt at the high school football field 10 a.m.

Pursuit of stolen vehicle ends in arrest

A vehicle reported stolen in Chanute led to a pursuit and ultimately the arrest of a 23-year-old Chanute man Wednesday, April 9.The driver was identified as Joshua Green, 23, of Chanute.

Galena voters pass USD 499 school bond issue

Voters in Galena USD 499 school district passed a $7.5 million bond issue Tuesday.A total of 243 voters cast ballots at polls with 202 voting for the bond issue and 41 against. Passage of the bond will enable the district to replace two modular classrooms at Spring Grove that house the preschool.
