Labette County Jail Report

Mark Alan Rice, 60, was arrested Tuesday by Oswego Police officers on charges of driving while license cancelled, suspended or revoked and driving while a habitual violator and was released on $2,628.50 bail.

The Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas (CHC/SEK) has released the results of its 2026 Community Health Needs Assessment—a detailed look at the biggest health challenges facing people in Southeast Kansas and Northeast Oklahoma.

Aaron Daniel Jones, 36, was arrested Thursday by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies on charges of failure to appear and is being held in lieu of $300 bail.

Area officers complete KLETC training course

Twenty recruits from the 353rd Basic Training Class at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) graduated after completing 14 weeks of intensive training. The new officers will now return to their agencies across Kansas to begin serving their communities.

Council to examine water fund decrease

During his annual financial report Columbus City Administrator Jake Letner reported the city was in good financial shape. However, one area he suggested the council take a closer look would be the water fund which had decreased $100,000 during the past year.
