Improvements planned for 911 dispatch

During a recent Farm Bureau Legislative meeting Cherokee County Sheriff Brian Henderson revealed some upcoming life saving improvements currently being made in the Sheriff’s Dispatch De- partment.

Senator Shallenburger attempts to stop buried loan deal

The Kansas Senate engaged in protracted debate on a budget provision using state tax dollars for a $50 million low-interest loan to owners of Yingling Aviation to finance expansion of the Wichita company’s aircraft painting business.

Knights of Columbus #9999 to host chicken noodle meals

A chicken noodle dinner will be hosted by the Knights of Columbus #9999 Thursday, March 12 at St. Rose Parish Hall, 129 N. Kansas.Lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Dinner will be served from 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m.

Kansas State honors students are named

Kansas State University has announced students who have earned semester honors for their academic performance in the fall 2025 semester.Keegan Harris of Columbus, Jade Peak of Scammon and Kayann Humble from Cherokee have been named to the list.

Cherokee County Jail Report

Cody Scott Myott-McLean, 33, was arrested Sunday by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies on charges of operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, vehicle liability insurance required and driving under the influence and is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
