Time to get ready for ‘Walk Kansas’

Time flies when you are having fun. And this year is no different. 2022 marks the twenty second year of Walk Kansas and the annual Walk Kansas event is back and stronger than ever. Walk Kansas will be held March 27 through May 21, teams of six are encouraged to sign up together and get moving.

Create better health cooking class

K-State Research and Extension and The Salvation Army of Pittsburg are partnering to bring a free healthy cooking class to Kansans. This class will provide nutrition information, tasty, low-cost, nutritious recipes, and tips on staying physically fit.

Area Accident Report

A two-vehicle accident occurred Wednesday, March 2 at approximately 8:55 a.m. on Fir Road, five miles south of Carl Junction, Mo. A 2013 Jeep Wrangler driven by Kelli D. Hance, 48, Columbus, was traveling west and made a left turn into the path of an eastbound 2018 Ford F150 driven by Matthew R.

Area firefighters have busy week

Despite the recent sleet, snow, rain and cold weather last week, this week dry conditions, brought red flag fire warnings as southern winds fanned small flames into a raging infernos.
After another vehicle swerved to miss dog, 21 year -old Kellyn Delaney Lipasek of Baxter Springs, who was traveling north in a 2020 Hyundai, made an evasive maneuver to avoid that vehicle and struck the railing of a sidewalk bridge. Vets paver orders are being taken

It is that time of the year again. The Veterans Memorial located at the northeast corner of the square by the Cherokee County Court House in Columbus will be engraving granite pavers honoring veterans.
