Legislative breakfast set in April

The Columbus Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Legislative Breakfast, April 4, at 7:30 a.m. Representative Mike Houser and Senator Richard Hilderbrand will be in attendance. There is no fee for Chamber members. Nonmembers will be charged $10 per person (paid in advance).

Dwight Bernard, 57, was arrested Sunday Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies on charges of burglary; vehicle or other means of conveyance and theft by deception and is being held in lieu of $1,000 bail.

After nearly four years, the grand prize of the Columbus News-Report Prize Puzzle was captured by Bob Grant, of Scammon. Grant was presented $1,000 in Columbus Chamber of Commerce Gift Certificates, Sunday, which may be spent at any Chamber of Commerce business.

Columbus discusses tapping fees for business

Further economic prosperity may be in store for Columbus, thanks to a potential partnership between the Farmers Cooperative Association and the City Council. The company is currently constructing a liquid fertilizer facility south of town and has asked the city to waive the tapping fee.
