A full book and tuition scholarship to Fort Scott Community College will be available to Southeast senior Madison Warner of Weir. Warner has officially signed to join the FSCC game day and nationally competitive Cheer Team.

FedEx to build distribution center near county line

Construction on the new 250,000 square-foot FedEx Ground facility is currently underway on the south edge of the City of Pittsburg. The distribution center is the latest example of the growth in Southeast Kansas, and is expected to employ a mix of full and parttime team members.

With the operations of wind farms curtailed in Cherokee County since the Commissioners put a oneyear moratorium on activities in August, they have begun the process of gathering local opinions.

SE 90th closed for KDOT road work

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) has closed SE 90th Street for the first mile south of U.S. 166 in Cherokee County. No through traffic is allowed. Local traffic can access SE 90th from the south. The road closure is part of the U.S. 166 expansion project in Cherokee County.

The Columbus Day committee is now accepting 2022 vendor space applications. Several food and craft vendors have already registered. The one thing it tells us is that vendors are ready to get out and participate in festivals.
