USD 404 School board recognizes state champs

Margaret Radlund’s Career/Community Connections students prepared dinner for the Riverton Board of Education prior to the board meeting. The board was very appreciative of the student’s hard work.

Each year the Cherokee County Soil and Water Conservation District invites the community to attend their annual meeting and dinner. This year, Nick and Christina Martin will receive the Banker’s Award for their efforts in conservation.

Vet suspects power leak in calf deaths

While the County Commissioners are wrestling with the issue of solar electricity farms, local farmers are struggling with an entirely different electrical problem of their own.It seems the high-power lines, prominent across the county, are having an effect on the cattle herds.

Fish fry begins

Each Friday beginning tonight (February 20) until March 27 the Knights of Columbus Council #3316 will hold their 28th famous annual fish fry featuring catfish and shrimp.

Chapter BT PEO holds educational meetings

Two educational meetings were held by Chapter BT of P.E.O. International recently.Both meetings were held in the Fellowship Hall of the United Methodist Church in Baxter Springs. The first meeting was held at 6 p.m. January 19. This was Founders Day.
