During the West Mineral all school reunion held Saturday at Big Brutus Park six members of the West Mineral Class of 1956 were visiting together. The class members included with their current residence Lynn Turner, Wichita; John White, Columbus; John Battitori, Girard; Ed Vanderbeck, Cherokee; Bob Grant, Scammon; Paul Bennett, Ozark, Missouri. Also sitting behind the classmates are spouses Linda Grant and Mary Bennett.

West Mineral school reunion held

The annual West Mineral all school reunion really includes all schools from first grade to high school graduation. This week-end about the events were attended by about 45 former students in the school district that has been gone for more than a quarter of a century.

City to discuss proposed budget

The public hearing for the 2022 City of Columbus will be held tonight at 6:30 p.m. during the regular council meeting in the council chamber of city hall.

Cherokee festival bean feed Friday

As the festival season arrives the Cherokee Homecoming Fall Festival is first up on the area list. The annual event opens on Friday September evening with the 5 p.m. bean feed in Albert Pouch Park. The annual bean feed is followed by the American Legion Auxiliary pie and ice cream sale at 6 p.m.

Ellis first in pigskin picks game

Just keeping track of the games this week was bad enough with weather cancellations and COVID cancellations the question became not who won or lost but if and when they played the game. Clint Ellis won the top prize this week as he picked the college games better than the other entries.

City approves electricity to concessions

The installation of electricity to the Eddington Park Concession stand was approved by the Columbus City Council. The agreement calls for the city to pay the installation cost of $18,996. This agreement provides underground service to the concession stand from Liberty Utilities.
