Volunteers make, deliver pulled pork sandwiches for Johnson fundraiser

It was a bit of a family reunion as sisters-in-law Sharon Burch and Vivian (Burch) Frost visit with cousin Sharon (Boyes) Grant during a break at the benefit. Volunteers at the Jack and Carla Johnson fundraiser held last week were busy preparing the pulled pork sandwiches for delivery.

A hot evening was the perfect time for an ice cold sno-cone. Zander Boeckman was cooling off with his frozen treat at the Back to School Carnival. His blue smile says he was enjoying the refreshment. The carnival included inflatables, games and food and was held in Columbus City Park.

County approves wind farm delay

Wind farm construction was put on hold by Cherokee County Commissioners Monday as they passed a resolution stalling construction of wind farms in the county.
The Lions Park at the corner of Pennsylvania Street and Walnut Street will be closed for several months while the repairs are made to the city water standpipe beginning later this week. The standpipe is over 100 years old and needs some of the panels replaced. The stand pipe has been empty for several months.

With major repairs underway on the water standpipe located in Lions Park near the Columbus Mercy Hospital, contractors have requested the park be closed for several months.
