Prizeweek Puzzle consolation winner

The Prizeweek Puzzle continues to stump the participants as the $1,000 in gift certificates continues another week. There was no grand prize winner last week. Cheri Walden was the consolation prize winner as she missed four.

Columbus schools open Wednesday

Changes in the USD493 original reopening plan were approved by the Board of Education at their regular meeting on Monday night. The state of Kansas required each school district to adopt a reopening plan before the opening day of school.

Back to school carnival

One of the high points for USD 493 elementary students going back to school is returning after being cancelled last year for COVID. The annual back-to-school carnival is planned for students in Columbus schools in grades Pre-K through sixth grade .

Casino revenue rises, continues improving

Revenue at the Kansas Crossing Casino, in Pittsburg, returned to one of the best months in the gaming centers history. They reported $3,370,184 in gaming revenue for July 2021 an increase of $419,418 over June, 2021. It is also an increase of $460,969 over July of 2020.
