New store in Baxter Springs

After much anticipation the new Family Dollar/Dollar Tree is scheduled to open this Thursday, July 29 in Baxter Springs. Store hours will be 8 a.m. to be 10 p.m. everyday of the week. The new building is located on the corner of Military Avenue and 16 Street.

Mail delays impact passport delivery

Mail delays are impacting the way the Department of State is receiving passport applications for processing. According to County Register of Deeds Barbara Bilke, the U.S. Passport Service has notified her office that it is creating delays and impacting processing.

Deadline to pay delinquent taxes

Cherokee County property taxpayers have until Friday to pay their 2020 property taxes to avoid being published in the delinquent tax list. The delinquent tax list will be published in early August. The deadline to avoid publication is Friday, July 30.
