Mary Elizibeth Owens, 41, was arrested Thursday by Baxter Springs Police officers on charges of domestic battery; knowing or reckless bodily harm and is being held in lieu of $345 bail.

Delinquent tax sale on horizon this year

More than four years ago Columbus Attorney Robert Myers was hired by the Cherokee County Commissioners to bring to auction 500 parcels with delinquent taxes. Last week Myers returned paper work to more than half of those to the Commission.

Area Olympian falls short in trap contest

The competition at the Tokyo Olympics proved too much for Girard trap shooter Derrick Mein in the individual shotgun trap shooting. Jiri Liptak, of the Czech Republic, won the gold medal in trap shooting as the Czech team took gold and silver in the event. The silver was won by David Kostelecky.

Rest-A-While man arrested on burglary, drug charges

A search warrant was executed by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Investigators late Wednesday afternoon on a home in the Rest-A-While area outside of Riverton as part of an investigation into a residential burglary from over the weekend.
