Labette County Jail Report

Triston Keith Bigley, 23, was arrested Monday by Kansas Department of Corrections on a parole violation and is being held without bail.

Cody Allen King, 28, was admitted to the Cherokee County Law Enforcement Center Tuesday on a court ordered commitment. Branden Lee Colyer, 36, was arrested Tuesday by another jurisdiction on a warrant and was released.

The 2021 graduation ceremonies will be completed this week-end as the seniors end one phase of their life and begin another. In today’s edition, each of the seniors at Columbus and Riverton High School are pictured. Profiles of most of the seniors from both schools are included in today’s edition.

Free summer lunches at Baxter Springs

With the school year coming to a close the Baxter Springs USD 508 school board has began to discuss district business and prepare for next school year. Superintendent David Pendergraft reported that students in the district will receive free lunches again in the coming school year.

Vandals strike Lowell Cemetery, school

The community of Riverton has been hit with a crime wave in the last few days. There is currently a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for damaging gravestones at the Lowell Cemetery, according to Sheriff David Groves.

Casino has second best revenue month

The April revenue at Kansas Crossing Casino decreased slightly from March which was the biggest month in the casino’s history. Cherokee County received $34,889.15 as a one percent share of the revenue for April which is the second-best month in the Pittsburg Casino’s history.
