Overman to join Columbus Sports Hall of Fame

Rocky Overman attended CUHS from 1974 to 1978 where he was a two sport letterman for the Titans, in both football and wrestling. He will be inducted into the Columbus Sports Hall of Fame during the annual Columbus Chamber of Commerce banquet Wednesday, March 31 at the State Theatre Event Center.

Disc golf tourney in park planned April 10

The inaugural invitational tournament for the Columbus Disc Golf Course will be held April 10 at the course in the Columbus City Park. The tournament is open to the public to participate or as spectators.

Cherokee County Jail Report

David Bryson Logan, 22, was arrested Tuesday by another jurisdiction on a warrant. Shawn David Burrows, 43, was arrested Monday by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies on charges of failure to appear and is being held without bail.

Sewer complaint brought to commission

Seeking guidance from the County Commission, Galena resident Royce Cantrell complained about leakage from a septic and sewer system onto his property within the City of Galena.

County website, internet crashes

It has been a week since Cherokee County’s internal computer system and the connected web site has been offline. Since the new computer system was installed two years ago all the county offices except the Law Enforcement Center and the Health Department have been connected.

Langerot into Columbus Sports Hall of Fame

Long-time Mulvane head wrestling coach and standout Titan wrestler, Rick Langerot has been chosen as a member of the 2021 Columbus Sports Hall of Fame. The induction will take place Wednesday evening March 31 at the State Theatre Event Center during the Columbus Chamber of Commerce annual dinner.
