Galena Police officers investigated a report of operating motor vehicle without a valid license, unlawful registration, exceeding maximum speed limit, driving under the influence and vehicle liability insurance required, February 11 on Jefferson Street.

Cherokee County Jail Report

Michael Anthony Herndon, 51, was arrested Sunday by Baxter Springs Police officers on charges of disorderly conduct and is being held in lieu of $170 bail. Gabriel P. Irvin, 18, was arrested Sunday by Galena Police officers on charges of failure to appear and was released on$166 bail.

Unemployment rate increased in January

The unemployment rate increased in Cherokee County to 3.2 percent in January 2021. In December 2020 the unemployment rate in Cherokee County was 2.6 percent. However, Cherokee County had the exact same rate as the previous January (2020).
