Katie Bryananna Nesbitt, 21, was arrested Monday by Weir Police officers on charges of disorderly conduct and is being held in lieu of $500 bail.

Labette County Jail Report

Ricky Lee Flory, 27, was arrested Tuesday by Chetopa Police officers on charges of possession of marijuana and transporting an open container and is being held in lieu of $800 bail.

First St. Patrick’s Day parade was in 1601

St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated each year on March 17 in the United States, but collectors found few postcards, greeting cards or objects to collect before 1900. FirThe first St. Patrick’s Day parade is said to have taken place in 1601 in St. Augustine, Florida.

Three day overland camping event scheduled at Big Brutus grounds

Overlanding is a relatively new form of camping which can include the use of specially outfitted vehicles which allow campers the ability to camp off-grid and not require hook-ups to utilities.

High scores earned by 4-H members

Regional 4-H Days was held virtually March 6. Some of the Cherokee County 4-H members went online from the 4-H Building. The top scoring participants in the County 4-H Days were eligible to attend the Regional event. They competed against members from Montgomery, Crawford and Labette Counties.

Register now for 4-H Project Day Camp

A Project Day Camp will be held March 24 at the K-State Research and Extension Office. Presentations will begin at 1 p.m. and will continue until 5 p.m. Youth ages five-12 are invited to “come and learn” and youth ages 13-19 are encouraged to “come and volunteer.

The Riverton Highschool Leadership Class

The Riverton Highschool Leadership Class, under the direction of William Mallatt, put together comfort bags to help children taken into protective custody. Each bag contains a variety of thing including a blanket, activity book and hygiene products.

Titan of the Week

Lady Titan Senior, Jaden Spainhower, had the leading role as Dorothy in the CUHS production of the Wizard of Oz. She is being recognized as Titan of the Week.
