In the Columbus Unified High School production of the Wizard of Oz, Caleb Cheeseman was the Lion, Kali Maxton was the Tin Man, Hannah Kirk was the Scarecrow and Jaden Spainhower portrayed Dorothy. They were performing with the rest of the cast.

Spring River Health Staff member Addison Haddock delivered the refreshments to teachers Shasta Parker and Tammy Larison. The event was sponsored Spring River Wellness and Riggs Chiropractic Center.

Educators pampered at Spring River Wellness

Nothing says thankyou like a day at the spa. At least that is the way local educators looked at the Saturday morning of papering, enjoying pedicures, smoothies and a breakfast bar provided by Riggs Chiropractic Center. The added events included spin class, spinal screenings, swag bags.

Prizeweek consolation prize winner

The first grand prize winner of the Prizeweek Puzzle Gayle Hanson was the consolation prize winner last week as she missed four of the preferred answers. Two other entries also missed four but Hanson won the drawing.

Scammer alert by local police

With the announcement that the Federal stimulus checks were being mailed out, the scammers were beginning to search for prey. This past week a Columbus resident reported to the Columbus Police that they were the victim of a scam.

COVID vaccines continue increase

Nearly 350 COVID-19 vaccinations were administered last week by the Cherokee County Health Department. Like many areas of the state, a significant number of residents who qualify for a vaccine under “Phase 2” have received the vaccine, if they chose to.

Cherokee County Jail Report

Kamaurie Jermaine Hart, 24, was arrested Wednesday by Galena Police officers on charges of criminal trespass and is being held in lieu of $100 bail. Gaige McKenzie Beck, 20, was arrested Wednesday by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies on charges of failure to appear and is being held without bail.
