William Dewayne “Bill” Price, 63, of Chetopa, died at12:43 a.m., Friday, September 8, 2023, at Mercy Hospital, in Joplin, Mo. following an illness. Born December 4, 1959 in Joplin, Mo., Bill was the son of Jackie and Lillian (Hall) Price. They preceded him in death.
Raised in Galena, Bill graduated from high school there. He has lived in Chetopa, the past 31 years.
Bill served four years in the United States Army. He worked as a metal smith, last working at Ducommon in Baxter Springs for several years. He enjoyed fishing and working on anything that had wheels and a motor. Bill was often seen driving his mobility chair he fashioned from a recliner. His greatest joy was his grandbabies.
Bill and Vera McGuirk were united in marriage May 22, 1992, in Chetopa. She survives.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by one son David Price of the home; two daughters, Jessica Barnes (Charles), of Overbrook and Amanda Josey (Matthew), of Vinita, Okla. Five brothers, Don Price, Leon Price, and Dean Price (Paula), all of Galena, David Price (Amy) of Frontenac and Art Price (Angela), of Clever, Mo.; one sister, Jackie Netzer (Stephen) of Billings, Mo.; and five grandchildren, Lillian Barnes, Adelyn Barnes, Evian Barnes, Rylan Josey, and Jayden Josey also survive.
Bill was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, of Galena, for cremation.
