Douglas Roy Biggerstaff, 63 of Columbus, died at home September 9, 2023. Born December 5, 1959 in Columbus, Doug was the son of Roy Desmond and LaVerda (Rider) Biggerstaff. They preceded him in death.
Doug and Jackie Clark were united in marriage October 24, 1981, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Columbus. He worked as a mailman in Pittsburg, and Baxter Springs. He also worked for the Department of Social Services in Pittsburg; and in construction.
Among his hobbies, Douglas enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching football and boxing. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. He was a talented carpenter and playing his guitar. Doug proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He leaves behind rand-dogs Toodle and Winnie. Douglas was friends with everybody and never met a stranger.
Doug is survived by his wife Jackie; son Benjamin Douglas Biggerstaff (wife Jessica) of Columbus; daughter Breah Biggerstaff of the home; and sister Desma Sisco (husband Gary) of Columbus; and one beautiful granddaughter Sophie Biggerstaff of Columbus.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life to be held at the Columbus City Park, Saturday, September 23 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be payable to the family to help with expenses.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by Derfelt Funeral Home of Columbus.
