Arthur Norman Schmitt, 87, of Broken Arrow, Okla. Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at home. Born in Lansing, Michigan June 5, 1936, Art was the son of Grant and Marie Bera Schmitt. They preceded him in death. In 1940 the family moved to California where Art grew up.

Jeffrey Clifford Scott, 62, of Galena, died at his home October 5, 2023. He was a beloved father, husband, brother, and grandfather. Jeff was born December 8, 1960, in Joplin, Mo. He was a life-long resident of the Tri-State area.

Danetta Jean Harper, 76, of Galena, died Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Legacy Living, in Baxter Springs. Born January 27, 1947 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Danetta was the daughter of Dan P. Wheeler and Imogene (Bailey) Wheeler. Her family ultimately moved to Kansas and she attended school in Riverton.

Timothy Hodgson, 55, Columbus

Timothy Wayne Hodgson, 55 of Columbus, died peacefully in his sleep at home, Tuesday, October 10, 2023. Born September 13 in Hawarden Iowa, Tim was the son of James and Victoria (Stubbs) Hodgson. Tim and Juanita Marie Burchett were united in marriage July 27, 1990 at Miami, Oklahoma.

Ted Edmondson, 77, Columbus

Ted David Edmondson, 77, of Columbus died October 9, 2023 at 8:15 p.m. Born August 26, 1946 at Maude Norton Hospital in Columbus, Ted was the son of Shade Thomas and Esther Lucille (Relf) Edmondson. He was their first child born in a hospital.

Gwindell “Fritz” Kay, 71, of Oswego, died following a sudden terminal illness the morning of October 7, 2023 at the “Solace House” in Joplin, Mo. He was born on September 29, 1952 in Birmingham, Ala. He was the son of Gwinn Edward Kay and Betty (Stuart) Casey.

Shirley Jane (Clevenger) Griffitt, 88, of rural Columbus, died Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Medicalodge in Columbus. She was born May 2, 1935, to Redmond and Florence (Smith) Clevenger in Persia, Iowa. Shirley and Raymond Griffitt were united in marriage October 29, 1949, at Oswego.
