Titans end season in heartbreaking regional loss

The Columbus Titan Baseball season ended with a heartbreaking, 0-1, loss to Galena in the Kan-sas Class 3A Regional, Quarterfinal, Wednesday, at Girard. On paper, the Titans looked to be the clear winner as starting pitcher, Jack Vilela, tossed 13 strike outs in six innings, including three each in the fifth and sixth innings, and allowed just three hits. The fatal blow came when Galena leadoff batter, Zane Turner, senior, drew a walk with two outs in the top of the third inning. He stole second and the speedster scored on a RBI single by junior, Jack Perry, just over the Titan second baseman’s head.

Frontenac sweeps season finale

The Frontenac Raiders swept the CNC League season finale over Columbus, 11-1 and 12-0, Friday. The rain delayed contest was moved to the all turf field in Girard and followed the Trojans finale with Prairie View.

Titan Baseball to host regional

Columbus Titan Baseball earned the chance to host the first round of the Kansas Class 3A Regional Baseball Tournament on their home field by finishing fourth in the regional standings. The Titans ended their regular season, Friday with a 12-10 record. Columbus is slated to host Galena, Wednesday, at 5:30 p.m.

CUHS CNC League Champions

The Columbus Lady Titans split their final regular season double header in Frontenac and will share the CNC League Softball Title with the Lady Raiders. Columbus won the first game, 4-3, but Frontenac reversed the outcome with a 4-3 win in the night cap.

Titan Thinclads at Clements Inv.

Two Lady Titans and three Titan Thinclads earned points and medals at the Thad Clements Invitational Track and Field Meet, Friday in Chanute. Sophomore, Piper Hayes, placed fifth in the triple jump and was seventh in the long jump to score four of the Lady Titans seven points.
