CCCJL Tourney finals Thursday

The Columbus Junior High School Boys Basketball Team ends their season, Thursday in the CCCJL Tournament in Galena. The Titan Seventh Grade finished their season, Monday in the consolation round robin for teams in the lower third of the standings with Galena and Riverton.

Titan of the Week

Titan Senior, Landin Midgett, scored a gamehigh 20 points in the Titans 52-45 win over Riverton, Tuesday and shot 100 percent from the field in the 59-36, win over St. Mary’s-Colgan, Friday in Pittsburg. He is being recognized as Titan of the Week.

Lady Titans get sweet revenge

Sweet revenge was the theme for the Lady Titans in their 39-38 win over the Riverton Lady Rams, Tuesday, at the Columbus Unified High School Gymnasium. In two contests previously played this season, Riverton got the best of hometown favorites, 2825 and 39-33.

Titans three-peat Rams at home

The Columbus Titans earned a three-peat with their 52-45 win over the visiting Riverton Rams, Tuesday night at the Columbus High School Gymnasium.

Welch first in virtual Powerlifting meet

The Columbus Titans had seven competitors for the Goddard Virtual Lifting Meet, Saturday, January 28, against 519 registered lifters. Lady Titan Junior, Lizzy Welch, placed first overall in her weight class for the second time this lifting season.

Rec Basketball enjoys bye week

The Columbus Recreation Mini Basketball League can enjoy a bye week Saturday with no league games scheduled. Games will resume February 11 when the young Titans host Riverton.

Mini Titans in Woods Classic

The morning session of the 28th Annual Woods Classic Wrestling Tournament in Chanute produced five gold medals for the Columbus Wrestling Club in the two session tournament, Sunday.

Titans win Senior Night duals over LC

The state ranked Lady Titans hosted their final home dual, Monday, taking a 51-24 win over Labette County. Seniors, Addison Saporito and Aubree Saporito took wins under the center mat light to lead Columbus to the win. Senior, Jailyn Rodriguez, was sidelined with an injury.

Big start leads to Titan win over Raiders

A 19-point first quarter by the hometown Titan Basketball Team led to a 63-61 homecoming win over the visiting Frontenac Raiders, Friday night, at the CUHS Gymnasium. Columbus won the tip and scored the first two baskets of the game.

Lady Raider defense stifles Lady Titans

The Columbus Lady Titans ran into a tough defense that held them to 12 field goals Friday night against the Frontenac Lady Raiders at the high school gym. The Frontenac offense in turn pumped in 38, first half, points to take the 5531, win and spoil the Lady Titan Homecoming.
