Central Junior High hosted CCCJ track , field meet

The Central Junior High School Titans hosted the CCCJ League Track and Field Meet, Tuesday to close out their 2022 season. Seventh grader, Levi Simpson, added to his gold medal collection with a league championship in the 1600 meter run.

JV pitching talent has local ties

Titan Junior, Jake Eddington, took the mound in relief during the make-up double header at Galena, April 20. The Titans and the Bulldogs split the games with Galena taking a 3-2 win and a the second game ending in a 4-4 tie.

Titans close with shut out in sweep

The Columbus Titans shut out St. Mary’s-Colgan, 10-0, in the second game of the CNC League double header behind the pitching of juniors, Kolt Ungeheuer and Cade Saporito, Monday, at Bomber Field. The Titans took the first game in a 6-3 battle over the Panthers.

Mooney throws 10Ks, Saporito gets shutout

Lady Titan Senior, Lily Mooney, tossed ten strike outs in the 7-1 win over St. Mary’s-Colgan, Monday night at the Community Field Ball Park. Junior, Aubree Saporito, hurled two Ks in the 5-0 shut out over the Lady Panthers in the night cap for the sweep.

Scott, Kirk top ten at Titan Invite

Titan Sophomore, Dallas Scott and junior, Mack Kirk placed sixth and seventh, in the Columbus Titan Golf Invitational, Tuesday at the Brush Creek Golf Course. The pair shot 87 and 88 respectively on their home course. Vinny Pile, Frontenac, took top medalist honors with a 76 for 18 holes.

CNC Golf standings

Nick Ison, St. Mary’s-Colgan, is currently sitting at the top of the leaderboard in the CNC League Golf Standings. He has a 302 combined total for four tournaments completed. The Girard and Galena tournaments remain for the final tally.

Frontenac takes two over Baxter Springs

Freshman Lady Raider Avery Johnson pitched a 6-0, three hit, shutout over Baxter Springs in the first softball game at the Field of Dreams complex, Monday. Through six innings Johnson saw only 19 Lady Lion batters, one over the minimum of 18.

Titan JV errors result in loss to Grizzlies

Errors resulted in the 0-2 loss for the Columbus Junior Varsity Titans, April 21, against the visiting Labette County Grizzlies on Bomber Field. The game was scoreless through the first four innings.

Bulldogs top Titans in CNC Junior Varsity split

The Galena Bulldog Junior Varsity Team edged the Titans 3-2 and tied one, 4-4, in a make-up double header in Galena, April 20. The Bulldogs took an early lead in the first game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning.

Lady Titan Sophomore, Graci Major, has a .730 Earned Run Average in six games or 24.2 innings pitched for the Lady Titans, including a pair of shut outs. She is being recognized as Titan of the Week.
