Titans cage Grizzlies in Altamont

The Titan Baseball Team swept the varsity/junior varsity double header Monday night in Altamont. Columbus took the varsity win, 5-1, after a sluggish start and the junior varsity dominated the Grizzlies in their 8-1 win.

TITAN OF THE WEEK

Titan Senior, Gabe Martin, earned a Powerlifting State Championship at Smokey Valley High School in Linsborg over the weekend. He is being recognized as Titan of the Week. Gabe won the championship in the 198-pound weight class, weighing in at 187.

Titan Jr. Varsity falls to Webb City

The Titan Junior Varsity Baseball Team played a double header in Webb City, Mo., Thursday after shuffling between several options and around inclement weather. The young Cardinals took wins in both games, 9-3 and 8-1. Columbus took the win in their opener Tuesday over Quapaw, Okla.

Lady Lions opener tonight

The Lady Lions of Baxter Springs have nine young student-athletes out for softball with six returning starters. The team will have a busy first week with a varsity double header on Monday against visiting Sarcoxie, Missouri.

Road work will hinder Titan travel

New bridge construction that began Thursday in Labette County will hinder travel for the Columbus High School sports teams as they travel west for games, meets and matches. The bridge is located on U.S. 59/U.S. 160, 5.69 miles west of Oswego spanning Labette Creek.

Lady Titan Freshman, Katy Mooney, received All-State Honorable Mention in the Sports in Kansas 2022 All-State Girls Basketball Class 3A Team voting in recent announcements.

The Lady Titan Softball Team spent the final weekend of spring break

The Lady Titan Softball Team spent the final weekend of spring break attending the University of Kansas Softball games in Lawrence. The team also practiced on the Lady Jayhawk field as a team building outing before kicking off their season with an 11-1 win over College Heights, Friday.

Rams baseball season underway

The Riverton Rams have already started their new season with 18 players out this season and seven returning. In two seven inning games at Seneca, Missouri, the Rams came from behind in the bottom of the seventh to down Wyandotte, Oklahoma 5-4.

Baxter Springs Lions open season Thursday

Baxter Springs Head Baseball Coach Cord Baldwin, in his second year as head coach of the Lions, has 24 players that have reported this season. Baxter Springs assistant coaches are Kyler Cook and Tyler Underhill. The Lions return six players with starting experience.
