Columbus advances to Class 3A post season finale

The Titan Basketball Team punched their ticket to the Kansas Class 3A Sub-State Championship game with a decisive, 71- 56, win over Cherryvale, Thursday.

The Spring Sports Season has begun at Columbus Unified High School. By rule, Kansas State High School Activities Association scheduled February 28 as the official day practices for spring events were allowed to begin.

Lady Titans upset Lady Rams in Sub-State thriller

The Columbus Lady Titans turned a slow start into a Kansas Class 3A Sub-State Tournament win in Riverton, Tuesday. Trailing early, the Lady Titans, seeded fifth with an 8-11 record, pulled off a classic come-back in their 48-42 win over the Lady Rams, 8-10, who drew the fourth seed.

Five CNC teams in girls’ semis

Five CNC League Teams have advanced to the semi-final round of the Kansas State High School Sub-State Tournaments. Columbus and Galena play tonight in the Class 3A Fredonia Tournament and Frontenac and Girard advanced to play tonight in the Class 3A LaCygne-Prairie View Tournament.

The Columbus Titans were one of five CNC League Boys Teams to advance to the semi-final round of their respective Kansas Class 3A Sub-State Tournaments, Monday night. The Titans eliminated the only CNC League Team not advancing with their 50-31 win over Baxter Springs in Columbus.

Galena, Colgan win sub-state matchups

The Kansas Class 2A Sub-State girls bracket got underway Monday night with the undefeated St. Mary’s-Colgan Lady Panthers coasting to a 66-16 win over Jayhawk-Linn (3- 14, number eight seed) in Pittsburg.. The Galena Lady Bulldogs are the number three seed in the Class 3A, Fredonia Sub-State.

Titans advance to Sub-state semi

The Columbus Titan Basketball Team extended their season with a 50-31 win over the Baxter Springs Lions in the first round of the Kansas Class 3A Sub-State, Monday, at the CUHS Gymnasium. The Titans added another game to their postseason schedule and will play Cherryvale, Thursday, in Fredonia.

Riverton slips past Caney Valley in Sub-state bout

A great four and five seed match-up in Caney opened the District 1, Class 3A Sub-State with the number five, Riverton Rams. Riverton (8-11) outscored Caney Valley (11-9), 14-6 in the fourth period to win 41-37. Caney Valley entered the sub-state winning the last nine of eleven games.
