Central 7th opens on home court

The Central Junior High Titan Seventh Grade Team opened their 2022 season with home games, January 4-6, on the junior high campus. The 7A Team opened Tuesday, with a 30-23, win over College Heights Christian School, Joplin, Mo.

Lancer Classic boys bracket Tuesday

The boys bracket in the annual Lancer Classic Basketball Tournament begins Tuesday, at Southeast High School. The Columbus Titans (4) will play Riverton (5) in the night cap at 8:30 p.m. Southeast (3) and Southeast (3) and McAuley (6) will open the tournament with the 4 p.m. game.

Titan Wrestling Club competes at Carl Junction

The Columbus Wrestling Club participated in the Carl Junction Bulldog Open, Saturday. Dayton Hughes, Cam Carter, William Weber, Paxton Schalk, and Kash Smith all captured first place in their respective age and weight classes.

Central Titans busy opening week

The Central Titan Eighth Grade Team opened their 2022 season, Tuesday, January 4, hosting College Heights Christian School, Joplin, Mo. The Cougars won the game, 48-29, led by Cannon Miller’s 13 points. Columbus took the early lead getting five points from Jett Tanner in the first quarter.

Girard squeaks by Rams in fourth

The Girard boys came out the winner in a multiple lead change, back-and-forth game against the Riverton Rams, 54-43, Tuesday in Riverton. The girls contest was postponed due to illness, giving the boys teams the spotlight for the night.

Lancer Classic girls begin Monday

The Annual Lancer Classic hosted by Southeast High School begins with the girls bracket, Monday. The Columbus Lady Titans (6) will play College Heights (3) in the 4 p.m. game followed by Baxter Springs (7) vs. Parsons (2) at 5:30 p.m. Southeast (8) will play McAuley (1) at 7 p.m.

Lady Titans take fourth at Seneca

The Columbus Lady Titan Wrestling Team placed fourth in the Midwest Materials Tournament, Saturday at Seneca, Mo. Nine Lady Titans competed against twenty-two schools represented with at least one wrestler. Cassville, Missouri won the team title, scoring 206.5 points with 11 participants.

Issac Sharp pinned

Issac Sharp pinned Austin Jasso in the 220 weight class of the Titan dual with Pittsburg, Thursday, at the Columbus High School Gymnasium.

Columbus girls blank Labette Co.

The Columbus Lady Titan Wrestlers blanked the Labette County Lady Grizzlies, 45-0, in a dual, Thursday, in Altamont. Five Lady Titan wins came by pin with one decision and two open slots to total the 45 team points for the Columbus win.

Mini basketball begins 2022 game schedule

The Columbus Mini Basketball League opened their season Saturday, hosting the Galena League. Games were held at the Red Iron Activity Center in Columbus. Galena won both third grade boy’s games, scoring 14 points in each contest. Columbus came up just short in the losses, 10-14 and 8-14.
