Young Titans off to slow start

The Titan Junior Varsity Basketball Team played at St. Mary’s-Colgan for their 2021-22 season opener. The young Titans had a slow start from their eightman roster and had a hard time overcoming the 17-9, first quarter deficit in the 39-54 loss.

Lady Titan wrestling team opened season with win

The Lady Titan Wrestling Team opened their season with a tournament championship at the Kan-Okla Tournament in Coffeyville, Friday. Columbus took the championship with 141 team points in the field of 16 team. Wellington placed second with 112.

JV wrestling team at Coffeyville for first tournament of season

The Columbus Junior Varsity Titans took the mats for their first tournament of the season at the Kan-Okla Tournament in Coffeyville, Friday evening. The event was originally scheduled to be held at Caney High School however, it had to be moved to the Coffeyville Community College.

Lady Lions take first win at home

The Lady Lions started their basketball season at home with a victory over Liberal, Missouri, 33-24. The Lion boys narrowly lost to Liberal, 50-45. Senior, Emmalee Williams, started the Lady Lions with the first seven points to take a five-point lead within minutes of start of the opening quarter.

Baxter Springs Lions drop home opener

The Baxter Springs Lions started their opening loss to Liberal, Mo. up 6-0 with a field goal and two free throws by senior, Garett Paxson, and a basket by senior, Kaden Niday, hitting underneath. But the visitors came back to take the win, 50-45, Thursday, in Baxter Springs.

Lady Rams open basketball season

Adam Thomasson brings his fifteen years of coaching, five as the Lady Rams head coach, to open the 2021-22 season with plans to improve on the 3-18 record of last year.

CUHS Wrestling begins tonight

Titan Wrestlers were introduced at the annual Meet the Titans night at the CUHS Gym, Tuesday. Juniors, Jaydn Hale and Jake Eddington, seniors, Jacob Scibor and Trent Smith, and juniors, Cade Saporito, and Isaac Sharp are ready to state the 2021-22 season.

Titans open at Colgan tonight

Lady Titan Seniors, Jade Fouts, Lexy Stone, Lily Mooney, Bianca Cevenini, and junior, Maddie Buergin will lead the 2021-22 Columbus Squad as upper classmen for second-year head coach, Matt Leet. The group was introduced to the Titan fans, Tuesday, at the annual Meet the Titans night at the CUHS Gym.

Basketball teams hold court

The Titans and Lady Titan take the court tonight at St. Mary’s-Colgan for their season opener. Second year Lady Titan Head Coach Matt Leet said, “We are starting the season with 13 girls. We have four seniors, one junior, four sophomores, and four freshman.

New coach leads Galena girls

The Galena Lady Bulldog Basketball has a tenplayer roster this season for new head coach Zach Shockey. Coach Shockey was previously a Galena assistant and will inherit a team that played well last year with a 14-8 record.
