Rams win 2A mud bowl

On a mud-soaked football field with steady showers falling, the Riverton Rams held off the Eureka Tornadoes, 14-6 in the Kansas Class 2A State Football Playoff, Thursday in Riverton. The Rams scored first with 4:30 remaining in the opening period for an 8-0 advantage over the visiting Tornadoes.

Titans eliminated by Raiders

The Frontenac Raiders ended the season for the Columbus Titan Football Team by knocking them out of the Kansas Class 3A State Playoffs, 26-6, Friday in Frontenac. The Raiders took advantage when Columbus won the toss and deferred to the second half.

Bulldogs end 5/6 Titan win streak

The Columbus Titan Fifth and Sixth Grade Team lost a tough battle at Independence, October 16. The 14-18 loss was the first if the season for the young Titans. It was a story of two halves as Independence scored three touchdowns in the first half.

Central Titans beat Raiders

The Central Junior High Titans wrapped up their season, October 19 with a win over Frontenac. The 20-18 win was the first of the season for the junior Titan squad A pass from Jett Tan A pass from Jett Tanner to Jayden Rodriguez put Columbus in the lead, 6-0. The two-point conversion failed.

2A Sub-state loss ends Lady Lancer season

The Southeast Volleyball Lady Lancers finished their season in the first round of the Kansas Class 2A Sub-State Tournament against the eventual tournament champions, St. Mary’s-Colgan Lady Panthers, 13-25; 12-25 ending their season with an 8-23 overall record.

Youth basketball signups starting

Registrations are now being accepted for Columbus Youth Basketball. The league is open to all area boys and girls in grades one through six. The fee is $20 for first and second graders and $25 for students in third through sixth grade. There is no charge for foster children.
