Titan Junior Varsity 0-4 in September

The Titan Junior Varsity finds themselves with an 0-4 record for the month of September while the varsity team sits even at 2-2. Following a season opening loss to Frontenac, 12-20, the young Titans lost to Coffeyville on the road, 6-28.

Columbus travels to Cherryvale tonight

The 2-2, 1-0, Columbus Titans travel to Cherryvale tonight to take-on the Chargers in a Kansas Class 3A, District 1 contest. The Chargers were blanked, 36-0, by Caney Valley, Friday in week one of district play with a 1-3 record.

Life Christian School Bears capture MCL Softball Title

Columbus Life Christian’s Bear topped Forts Scott Heritage Christian and Pittsburg’s Covenant Academy, Saturday to capture the championship in the Midstates Christian League Softball Tournament at Fort Scott’s Buck Run Field.

Lady Lion Volleyball team adds four to win column

Baxter Springs picked up two wins in Pittsburg in the St-Mary’s-Colgan triangular volleyball meet, Tuesday, September 21. They defeated the host 25- 19, and in overtime 27-25. Against Galena, the scores were 25-15 and 25-8. They are now 18-9 for the season.

Lady Titans to host wrestling clinic

The Columbus Unified High School Lady Titan Wrestling Team will host a Girls Youth Wrestling Clinic, Saturday, at the Red Iron Activity Center on East Avenue in Columbus. The clinic will run from 10 a.m. to noon for girls in the sixth through eighth grades.

Lady Titan Golf second at Crestwood

The Lady Titan Golf Team placed second at the Frontenac/Colgan Invitational Golf Tournament, Monday, at Crestwood Country Club in Pittsburg. The team had a scorecard total of 442, behind St. Mary’s-Colgan in first place with 354.

Lady Titan rookies play at Frontenac

Three Lady Titans participated in the Frontenac Junior Varsity/Rookie Golf Tournament, September 14. Alyvia Soper, Lady Titan Junior, shot a 53, placing 14th and winning the tie-breaker with three Lady Raider Golfers, Luci Dunkeson, Riley Findley and Katelyn Dancer.

Columbus Area Youth Soccer first two weeks in the books

The Columbus Area Youth Soccer League completed their first two weeks of games, Saturday, at Froebe Fields in Eddington Park. Twenty teams played 19 games over two weeks on the multi-field complex. The results are below. September 18 results 3-4 Year-olds Sonic won over WD Ag Insurance Serv.
