Columbus to host 8U State Tourney

The Columbus Cal Ripken League will host the 8U State Tournament beginning tomorrow night on Rockette Field at the Community Field Ball Park. Teams from Frontenac and Parsons will play with the local 8U All-Stars in the double elimination tournament.

The Kansas Cal Ripken District 5 Baseball Tournament will be held at the Columbus Community Field Ball Park on Volunteer Field beginning tomorrow night. The four-team bracket will be filled by Columbus, Frontenac, Neodesha and Parsons.

Lady Titans, 3A All-State selections

Sports in Kansas and the Softball Coaches of Kansas have released their Kansas Class 3A All-State Softball selection the for 2021. Lady Titans, Aubree Saporito, sophomore and Kaitlyn Simpson, freshman, were chosen for All-State Second Team by Sports in Kansas.

Kaitlin Crossland, pitcher for the St. Mary’-Colgan Lady Panther Softball Team has been named Sports in Kansas 2021 Class 2-1A Player of the Year. The 2021 senior was also named as the Class 2-1A All-State First Team Pitcher.

The Columbus Girls Softball Commerce Bank 8U Team won the intracity league championship, Saturday night over Riverton, 20-18. The Riverton squad forced an “If” game, 18-11, after coming through the loser’s bracket in the double elimination tournament and winning the championship game.

Baxter Springs cancels Monday’s CNC finale

Baxter Springs was the final stop on the Colmbus Titans CNC Summer League schedule slated for tonight at Field of Dreams in Baxter Springs. The Lions have cancelled the double header, season finale and there are no plans for a make-up with dead week fast approaching.

Two Southeast High School have qualified to compete at the World’s Largest Rodeo.

The 14B Wild Thangz Softball Team won the Kansas USSSA State Championship, Sunday, in Wichita. Wild Thangz three-peat champs

The Wild Thangz Softball Team won their third USSSA State Championship in the 14B Class Kansas Tournament, Sunday in Wichita. The Columbus team won all five games on their way to the title in a field of 13 teams. The Wild Thangz have played travel softball together since 2015.
