The St. Mary’s-Colgan Baseball team took a double header from the Columbus Titans on their home field, Monday, 8-4 and 2-1 in high school summer league action in Pittsburg. The Titans opened with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning.

Junior Varsity falls to Grizzlies

The Columbus Junior Varsity fell victim to errors, costing them a 7-11 loss to the Labette County Grizzlies, June 10 in Columbus. The first base runner for Labette County reached first base on an error with one out. A double brought him in for the lead, 1-0.
The Lady Titan Wrestlers received recognition and picked up awards during the annual Titan Booster Club’s Sports Awards Ceremony, May 5 at Titan Stadium. Team members for the Lady Titan 2020-21 season are: Sophie Lloyd, freshman; Brooklyn Lima, freshman; Addison Saporito, sophomore; Jailyn Rodriguez, sophomore; Emily Welch, junior; Madelyn Garcia, freshman; Lizzy Welch, freshman; Destiny Lima, junior; and Dixee Lacen, senior.

Titans beat Pittsburg in extra inning walkoff

Titan Baseball took a 7-6, extra inning, come-from-behind win over Pittsburg in the high school summer baseball league, June 7, at Bomber Field. Kolt Ungeheuer hit a walkoff single to bring in Seth Stover, who led-off with a double in the bottom of the eighth inning for the win.

Titan Freshman, Korbyn Newberry, participated with the Kansas Blue Dual Team in a national wrestling tournament in Indianapolis, Ind. over the weekend. Thirty-six teams from across the U.S. wrestled Greco style, Thursday and Friday then changed to Freestyle for Saturday and Sunday’s competition.

McDown receives Academic All-District and MIAA honors

Former Columbus Titan, Jace McDown, has earned Academic All-District honors for the second straight year as presented by CoSIDA. The Emporia State University Linebacker is now eligible to move onto the national ballot for a chance to earn Academic All-America honors.

The Titan Junior Golfers continue to do well on the links in their second tournament of the summer, Thursday at Parsons. Alaina Smiley repeated for first in the girls 7-8 year-old division and Amory Neely was first in the girls 9-11 division. Tanner Thompson won the boys 7-8 year-old division.

Titan Baseball vs. Rams rescheduled

The first game of the Titan Baseball summer schedule was slated for June 1 in Riverton. That game was rescheduled for June 9 but was then postponed again to Wednesday, June 16. That puts three games on the Titans schedule for this week beginning with a trip to Pittsburg tonight to play St.
