Lady Titan JV sweeps finale

The Columbus Lady Titan Junior Varsity Team closed out their season with a pair of wins at Frontenac, May 7. The Columbus squad won the first game, 13-8, and then blanked the Lady Raiders in a 9-0, shut out to capture the double header sweep.

Brown 2A State long jump champ

St. Mary’s-Colgan Senior, Doug Brown, won the Kansas Class 3A State Championship in Long Jump with a leap of 22 feet, .5 inches at Wichita State University’s Cessna Stadium, May 28. The senior placed fourth in the 200 Meter Dash and the Triple Jump.

Frontenac collects 3A state hardware

Easton King, Frontenac Raider Senior, led his track and field team at the Kansas Class 3A Track and Field State Meet, May 28th in Wichita. King earned an individual medal in the 300 Meter Hurdles with his seventh place finish in a time of 42.22 seconds.

Girard Boys 3A State Runner-up

The Girard Trojan Track and Field Team placed second in the Kansas Class 3A Boys State Track and Field Meet with 55 team points, May 28 at Wichita State University’s Cessna Stadium.

Season winding down for CGSL

The Columbus Girls Softball League is winding down their 2021 season with their June schedule of games and end of season tournament. Games began in May and will wrap up the week of June 21 with intra-city league tournaments in each age division. The eight and under tournament will be in Columbus.

All-CNC League Baseball Honors

The CNC League released their All-League Honors following the KSHSAA State Playoffs last week. The Columbus Titans had four players chosen for league honors.

Junior Golfers medal at Oswego

The Columbus Recreation Junior Golf Program took ten golfers, five boys and five girls to Oswego for a tournament, Thursday morning and brought home nine, top five medals.

Frontenac third at 3A tourney

The Frontenac Raiders finished third in the Kansas Class 3A State Baseball Championship Tournament, May 28 in Manhattan. The CNC League representative, Frontenac, was seeded fourth in the state bracket with a 17-5 record.

Lancer Seniors

Lancer Seniors, Hunter Newcomb and Cody Gath cleared 12 feet in the pole vault at the Kansas Class 2A State Championship Track and Field Meet, Friday in Wichita. The Class 2A Regional Champion and Runner-Up both brought home hardware from the state meet. 

Three Lancers medal at state

Southeast Lancer seniors Hunter Newcomb and Cody Gath placed first and second at the Kansas Class 2A Regional Track and Field Meet in Pleasanton, May 21. The regional champion and runner-up placed fifth and eighth at the Kansas Class 2A State Track and Field Meet in Wichita, Friday.
