The St. Mary’s-Colgan Baseball and Softball Teams swept the Kansas Class 2-1A Regional Tournaments to earn a chance at concurrent state titles. The Lady Panthers hosted their regional at the Pittsburg State University Softball Complex, Monday and Wednesday.

The Kansas Class 3A Regional continued Thursday following multiple weather delays. The semi-final round began with Frontenac (17- 4, number one) playing Girard (13-8, number five seed). The Lady Raiders beat Riverton, 5-3 and Girard knocked off Baxter Springs,10-0 in their quarterfinal contests.

The Columbus Titan Baseball Team earned a slot in the Kansas Class 3A Regional Tournament Championship game with a semi-final win over the Riverton Rams, 8-3, Tuesday at Bomber Field in the Community Field Ball Park.

The Columbus Lady Titans opened the Kansas Class 3A Regional Tournament with a bang, rolling to a 15-1, run-rule win over Cherryvale (6-11, seventh seed) in the quarterfinal game, Tuesday. Junior Lily Mooney struck out three of the first four Lady Charger batters to begin the first inning.

Seniors, Tucker Peine and Preston Mullere competed at the Kansas Class 3-2-1A State Tennis Tournament May 14-15 in Wichita. The Titan Doubles Team lost their first match to Robert Newman and Garrett Buresh from Prairie Village-Kansas City Christian High School 6-3 and 6-0.

Titan golfers withstand rain at shortened meet

Titan Golf withstood the rain, playing a shortened nine-hole round at the Girard Invitational May 4. Dallas Scott, freshman, led the Columbus team shooting a 48 to tie for 12th with Ben Sneed, Baxter Springs and Darrel McLeod, Girard. Sophomore, Cody Ediger was one stroke back at 49 to place 15th.

Raiders overcome deficit to take win over Titans

The Frontenac Raiders overcame an 0-8 deficit to take a 15-8 win over the Columbus Titans in their final CNC League double header, May 6 in Columbus. The Raiders swept the series with a 10-4 win in the night cap.

Lady Titans end regular season 15-5

The Lady Titan Softball Team lost their final CNC League double header against Frontenac, May 6 at Rockette Field in Columbus, 7-5 and 6-3. The two losses accounted for the only sweep of the season against the Lady Titans in their 15-win, 5-loss record.
