Smith is March 2022 Lion of the Month

Meeting goals and maintaining a positive reputation are important to the March Lion of the Month. Trent Smith, was recently honored by the Columbus Lions Club. Smith, a senior at Columbus Unified High School is active in both sports and academic endeavors.

FCC youth accepting donations for Ukraine

First Christian Church youth are collecting for Ukraine. “For us, like for many others, every day Ukraine is on our hearts,” a quote from a local paper. The youth of First Christian Church were asking a question that many of us have asked recently,” How can WE best help these peoples?

The Columbus Lady Titan Softball Team finally got their season started with an 11-1, run-rule, sixinning win over College Heights in Joplin, Mo., Friday night. After the season opener scheduled at Liberal, Mo.

Firefighters raise funds for fireworks

CNC Music festival returns to Baxter Springs High School

The CNC League Music festival returned to the Baxter Springs High School after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They did hold the CNC League Music in 2021, but it was all on-line via video. Baxter Springs has been the host of the CNC Music Festival for many years.

LCC alumni hosting 23rd annual auction April 30

The Labette Community College (LCC) Foundation and Alumni Association will be hosting the 23rd annual Auction for Scholarships on Saturday, April 30 as an in-person event. This year’s auction, “Sun, Sand & Scholarships” will feature live and silent auction items, dinner, cash drawings and more.
