Stover’s celebrate sixtieth anniversary

Dan and Lorna Stover of Columbus recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their children, daughter-in-law and four other family members at the New Theater Restaurant in Overland Park, Kansas.

Titan Senior, Andrew Coberley, received 12 scholarship and additional awards during the 2021 Senior Assembly, May 14 at the Columbus Unified High School Gym. The 2021 CUHS Class Valedictorian is being recognized as Titan of the Week.

People, not strategies important for small communities

Lawrence Bossidy once said, “I am convinced that nothing we do is more important than hiring and developing people. At the end of the day you bet on people, not on strategies.” This has never been more true than in a smaller community.

The Vietnamese culture

From daring wars to huge celebrations, Vietnam is an interesting country that is located in Southeast Asia. What kicked off my own personal interest in the Vietnamese culture was the book: 10 True Tales: Escape to Freedom.

Something for everyone at county fair

Its fair time, something the residents, especially the youth, look forward to each year. Many residents that have moved away make it a point to come back to Columbus during the week of fair. We know it will be hot and probably rain some but, – it is fair week.

It is time to think about registering your child or grandchild for the Little Mr. and Miss Columbus contest for 2021. Boys and girls must be between the ages of three and five years of age, in the Columbus USD 493 district. The child chosen to be the 2021 Little Mr.

Still time to purchase advance ride armbands

Are you, your kids or grandkids planning on taking in the carnival rides this week during fair? Have you purchased your armbands in advance? You will save money if they are purchased in advance. Ride armbands will cost more if purchased on the midway. Tuesday at 3 p.m.

Tourism grants available for groups, organizations

Just a reminder that there is a county tourism grant available for groups or organizations that are doing an event in Cherokee County that will bring in a large amount of visitors with overnight stay in the county.

Ribbon cutting held at The MAX Therapy

There was a large turnout at the Ribbon Cutting for the new The MAX Therapy Center in Columbus Wednesday as the Chamber of Commerce extended a welcome to Susan Campbell on her opening.
