Wade receives Bart Myers Sportsmanship plaque

The Baxter Springs Little League honors one special player every year with the Bart Myers Sportsmanship Award. This presentation has been a yearly tradition for 42 years. On Tuesday, June 8, The Bart Myers Sportsmanship Award was presented to Braydon Wade.

Labette Community College is now taking nominations for the 21st Annual William and Allene Guthrie Van Meter Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award. The deadline for nominations is August 1.

Local Girl Scout leaders earn recognition

Girl Scout leaders in Cherokee recently held their annual leaders’ appreciation dinner. After dinner leaders were awarded fun awards and an auction was held with the daisy dollars leaders had earned over the previous year.

There is no better way to say thank you than with food. Around 60 volunteers attended the Southeast Kansas Ministerial Alliance Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. The SEKMA has volunteers from several area churches and wanted to show their appreciation.
