Columbus Future Farmers of America host breakfast

The Columbus High School Concert Band was one of seven band from across the State of Kansas chosen to perform at the Kansas Music Educator’s Association State Program. The Titan Band received the honor by taped audition for their third appearance including 2007 and 2017.

Animal health day, March 1

The veterinarians of Montgomery County, in cooperation with K-State Research and Extension Wildcat District are hosting Animal Health Day on Wednesday, March 1st at the Independence Civic Center, located at 410 North Pennsylvania Avenue, Independence, 67301.

Columbus High School performs ‘Seussical the Musical’

The Labette Community College (LCC) Foundation is accepting scholarship applications from current LCC students, prospective LCC students, and high school seniors for the upcoming 2023-2024 academic year. Students must apply by March 1, 2023, for consideration.

Pancake dinner at Neutral church February 25

A pancake dinner will be held at the Neutral Church Saturday, February 25 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. They will be serving custom ground whole hog sausage, pancakes, biscuits and gravy for a donation. There will be seating inside. Also carry-outs are available.

According to the national news February 2, that groundhog named Puxatawney Phil saw his shadow in Pennsylvania which predicted six more weeks of wintry weather.

Pulled pork fundraiser for Smiths tonight

Two communities will be coming together to support a family who has made a positive impact on many people. On Friday, February 17, when the Columbus Titans host the Galena Bulldogs in basketball, both communities will join in hosting a fundraiser for Dr. Brian and Marcia Smith.

Black Diamond biscuits, gravy breakfast set

A biscuits and gravy breakfast fundraiser will be held Saturday, February 25 at the Black Diamond Lodge #274. The lodge is located at 107 West Main in Weir. Serving will begin at 7 a.m. and continue until 11 a.m. Cost is $6 per person.  

Monday blood drive in new location

There is a location change for the upcoming blood drive. Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will hold a blood drive Monday, February 20 between 1 p.m.- 5 p.m. The event will be held at St. Rose Parish Hall located at 129 N. Kansas. Appointments are strongly encouraged to manage donor flow.
