Coming in with Santa will be five of his elves and they will be hiding out in the downtown business area – this could be around the square or down Maple St. we are not sure where they will be hiding out, waiting for you to find them.

Members of the Columbus Unified High School Band were recently selected as members of the Southeast Kansas Music Educators Association District Honor Band. They are being recognized as Titans of the Week.

Cookie walk planned at Columbus FCC

Alerting all cookie monsters. It’s time for the thirty third annual Cookie Walk sponsored by the First Christian Church in Columbus. Those who have a sweet tooth or do holiday entertaining will surely want to attend this event.

An initiation ceremony was held as new member, Pat Spriggs, was welcomed into the Columbus Chapter V PEO. The November 3 meeting was held in the Fellowship Hall of the Methodist Church. A new member gift and PEO information was presented.

Santa will make a photo stop before parade

Santa Claus will be at Labette Bank on November 30. Bring your children so they can give Santa their wish list and have their picture taken with Santa. The FCCLA organization from Columbus High School has made the arrangement with Santa to be at the bank from 5 to 6:45 pm to visit with the kids.

The Chamber of Commerce executive committee of the board of directors has made the decision to cancel the Sweet Holiday Delight tasting that was to take place before the Christmas parade November 30. It is being canceled due to a lack of participation.

Chris Award nominations sought

It is time for residents to make a nomination for the annual Columbus Chris Award which is due by December 30. The Columbus Chamber of Commerce always hears, after the fact, so and so should have been nominated – if they are not nominated, they can’t win.
