Learning to improve skills comes through judging process

One of the purposes of the fair is to show others your mastery of project skills and to learn how to improve those skills for the future. This is often accomplished thru the judging process. Judges are people who are knowledgeable about a particular project area.

Swine show reminds fairgoers pork was most popular meat

The 4-H and Open Swine show will kick off the judging Wednesday of Fair Week, the pigs being first in the arena might coincide because pork was the most popular meat found on the pioneer farm table. Meat, not bread was the staff of life for Frontier farmers.

Makers Fair, Expo September 17

K-State Research and Extension’s Wildcat District announces the first annual Makers Fair and Extension Expo to be held Saturday, September 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Southeast Research Center in Parsons (25092 Ness Rd).

Columbus Freedom Fest 2022 brings back turtle, sack races

Turtle Race winners in the 12 and under competition at the 2022 Freedom Fest held in the City Park Saturday. First place went to Tymber Newberry, second place went to Tyler Kirk and third was Piper Cain. The event was sponsored by American Bank represented by Jim Gaither.
