City approves signage, rehabilitation grant

At their regular council meeting on May 18, the Columbus City Council approved a signage upgrade for Sonic Drive-In.The Columbus Sonic Drive-In has been working to upgrade their building and signage to meet the current brand standards of Sonic Drive-in’s across the country.

Free lunch program begins

The Columbus summer lunch program begins today (Tuesday, May 26).Adults and children are eligible to receive a bag lunch.Included in the lunches are fruit (banana, orange, apple, grapes), vegetables (broccoli or carrots), white or chocolate milk, string cheese and one or two sandwiches.

Park elementary kindergarteners celebrated the end of the school year with some last minute carnival fun. Teachers set up and launched a mini carnival at the school including multiple activities. They had a tattoo station, catch the ducks station, boardwalk game, outdoor tic tac toe, ribbon wand fun and popcorn and cotton candy. Columbus Code Enforcement Officer Gary Holt received recognition for 10 years of service to the city at their regular council meeting May 18. Holt was hired as a police officer before being transferred to the newly created Code Enforcement position last year.
