Cherokee County Jail Report

David Bradley Clarkson, 45, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant and is being held in lieu of $5,638 bail.

Labette County Jail Report

Jonathan Alexander Karriman, 32, was arrested Monday by Oswego Police officers on charges of possess opiates, opium, narcotic drug and certain stimulants, use or possess drug paraphernalia for use in the human body and possession of marijuana and was released on $10,000 bail.

USD 493 recognizes teachers, retirees

Though school was out, the Columbus High School cafeteria was a buzz with talking and laughter as district teachers and staff gathered over breakfast Thursday morning to recognize those who had given their last bus ride, answered their last phone call and said goodbye to their final students.

Officers begin free youth bowling league

Beginning June third, the Columbus Police Department in partnership with Bowler’s Boulevard will be hosting a youth bowling league for sixth through twelfth grade students.The league has been dubbed “Bowling with the Blue” and pairs students with a police officer for a four-week league.

Keenagers choir, Parsons orchestra will perform

A celebration of America’s 250th birthday and the 100th birthday of the iconic Route 66 is planned by the Keenagers Choir and the Parsons Community Orchestra, both under the direction of Scott Nelson.

Arrests made in separate child sex offense cases

Two arrests for sexual crimes against children were made in Cherokee County this week.Sheriff’s Deputies arrested David Plummer, 40, Baxter Springs Monday on four counts of aggravated criminal sodomy. The arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation by Cherokee County detectives.
