Road budget request tops $3.7 million

The Cherokee County Road and Bridge Department 2026 budget was reviewed along with the County Sheriff’s department Monday by the County Commission.The Road and Bridge department was seeking a $614,293 increase in their budget over 2025.

Compass Academy holds graduation

Thirty middle school students finished the Compass Academy free summer enrichment program at Columbus High School and completed graduation ceremonies Friday.

Medicalodges to host salad fundraiser

Each year the Medicalodges of Columbus holds a fundraiser to support a trip for residents. In recent years the trips have included Branson sites including Dolly Parton’s dinner theatre and other shows.The fund raiser this year is being held on July 2, as the staff is preparing “Loaded” Chef Salads.
