Fresh blacktop was being laid on the eastern two miles of Old US Highway 96 this week. By Thursday at noon, contractor Bettis Asphalt had the entire east bound lane, and more than one-third of the west bound lane completed. Drivers are encouraged to use caution in the area while crews work to complete the project ahead of the Labor Day weekend.
